Your January 01, 2009 Pension Check

Postby Daylily on Tue Dec 30 2008

If you disenrolled or changed plans for 2009, be sure to check the deductions on your January statement. As for me, ALU deducted a premium for a plan from which I had disenrolled for 2009. (I had received a confirming letter from Lucent reflecting my disenrollment.)
Payroll told me to call Benefits since they had not been advised to stop the deduction. Benefits apologized and advised that I could expect a refund "sometime in February." Their excuses are: so many changes in member enrollment, changes occurring late in the month???. If I didn't suspect (smell a rat) something unusual, I would not be to ticked off. They really don't need my $367.16; collectively it adds up nicely, though.

I received my pension detail in the mail today and it was correct. I also declined health care coverage for 2009.
